The Wayback Machine — Gift For a Princess

During my recent trip to Thailand, there was a flurry of activity at my hotel. The grounds were already beautiful, but everything had to look perfect. Every stone in the garden was individually washed and returned to its place.

Her Royal Highness Maha Chakri Sirindhorn was attending a private dinner at the hotel. She is beloved in Thailand for all her charity work and for being down-to-earth. The shortened version of her official title is “Phra Thep” which means “Princess Angel.”

The army blocked off the streets and security was tight. We weren’t allowed to take photos of her.

But I was able to craft a letter telling her about Cupcake International, how much I love working in Thailand, and how much I admire her humanitarian work. I gave her one of my jackets with the letter.

The Gift and the Letter

I didn’t hand it to her myself, but her assistant received the gift. She was whisked away to the dinner, and I had to leave for the airport.

I haven’t been invited to the Palace yet!  I’m waiting!  😉

  1. The attention to detail amazes me — washing each individual stone, etc. That reverence, that respect. There’s something rather beautiful about it.
